Curation Costs Exchange

Understanding and comparing digital curation costs to support smarter investments

Introducing the Model Requirements Specification

The Model Requirements Specification is a common model based on common concepts and a generic specification that may be used in follow-up Research & Development projects.

The value built into this concept model leverages the comprehensive engagement by the 4C project with various user communities and all of the detailed analysis of the requirements, drivers, obstacles and objectives that are related to that engagement.

Ultimately, this concept model is a critical input to the curation and preservation solutions and services that will inevitably arise from the commercial sector as ‘supply’ responds to a much better understood ‘demand’ for cost-effective and relevant tools.

What does the Model Requirements Specification look like?

The model requirements specification provides metadata and descriptions that should be completed for future curation cost modelling work. The use of the specification and associated guidance will help ensure the key issues identified by 4C have been addressed. Those selecting curation cost models will therefore have a common baseline of descriptions making the options more immediately understandable and comparable.
